Hi, yikes it's the middle of the week already and the 1st of February, screeeech! Where did January go??
Yesterday I got more weeding/tugging out/cutting back done in the main garden and I'd say I'm almost two thirds done, pant, pant! John was going to get a ute-load of lovely cow manure and sawdust (mixed) from our neighbour who has cattle but Ray's tractor wasn't working - clutch slipping - so no such luck. It is absolutely fabulous for my flower gardens and better yet, it's free! Hopefully I will have the main garden finished by the time the tractor is fixed. I've tweaked my back slightly in the past day or two so I'm going to take it easy today.
After lunch I escaped to my studio for about 30 minutes and created this:
It was going to be the background to a flower but when I looked at it again I decided I like it just like this. John said immediately that it looked like a sort of city-scape and when I was sitting here yesterday afternoon looking at it from a different angle I could see a doorway. I love the way the brushstrokes give it so much life. Yes I had fun! I'm going to take it to the market this weekend just to see what happens. Ooooh John made me some really cool stand for my canvases, made from cardboard files. I'll have to take a photo once they are set up. I had been lying my canvases down but now I hope people will be able to see them more easily.
This afternoon we're off into Nelson to look at sorting out my 50th birthday present (ooooooh, it's in April) and also to run some other errands. We were meant to go last week but we had to stay at home and keep an eye on Chester. He seems okay at the moment and we can't live our life around what might or might not happen, we just have to get on with it. Speaking of which I'd better take him for a walk. Smiles...
