Hi, it's Monday morning, I've walked the dog and am now enjoying a cup of tea before I launch myself head first into the garden. I am having a battle with myself - it's cloudy so I'm tempted to go out to the kitchen garden. The main perennial garden is a huge mess in some areas too so my battle is which one do I do. A lot of the perennial garden is in full sun for much of the day too so I'm really tempted!!! Giggle, by the time I decide the blasted sun will be out I'm sure.
Here's a photo of our new compost bins. They still need some firm stakes of some sort to add support on the edges:
Yesterday John was washing Brahms and Bartok (our 30 year old Toyota hilux ute). Chester joined him, sitting in the ute and when John looked there was Monty too! This cat is such a character - he always needs to be part of what is going on - so lovely!! Here's the pic John took:
I am SO in love with Golden acrylic paints. I started the inside of the back cover of my new art journal (it's a ringbound 8x8 chipboard album with heavyweight paper in it) and the colours just sing. Pthalo turquoise is the most divine rich, dark shade and it goes so well with gold.. oooooh! If it gets too hot this pm I will leap back into my studio!
I've just had a wonderful phone call!! I have been keeping an eye out for a part-time job to help with our funds and I have just found out I have one at a lovely shop called Jellicoe. It is a ''beautiful decor etc things'' shop and also sells unique clothes too. They have a workshop outlet where they sell the embellishments that go onto their clothes and artworks too, plus a ''sale'' outlet that will be open until the end of March (a slightly dark, dingy space unlike their other two). I will be doing a maximum of 18 hours and some of that will be at their workshop (oh be still my heart with excitement) on a Tuesday. It was going to be more hours but they found two people they just had to employ - one of which was me! I've known Deanna for quite a few years and she used to be a customer when I worked at my friend's scrapbook store so she knows I have the right sales technique etc.
I start this Thursday from 2pm - 8pm in the sale shop and will be also doing some work on the Friday too. I will also be doing some weekend work generally which doesn't phase me at all. I am BEYOND excited. If I have to have a part-time job, this is the best place I could think of to work at - so inspiring in many ways!!!! WAHOOOOOOO... ermm can you tell I'm excited. They are even going to work around my nursery being open on Mondays and Thursdays so I can still do that. I'm not getting many customers at the moment but I think that is mainly because it is so dry and hot, no-one is thinking about planting.
Crikey, right back out into the garden I go! Smiles...
Congrats on a dream job! I just purchased some new Distress Paints and can't wait to get them - the YouTube videos from Tim Holtz made me want to spend more YUK! So I understand the love of color and supplies. The compost bins are just about the best I have ever seen as I love open bins - so efficient. I saw on Pinterest where someone drilled random holes in boards and inserted marbles in each hole making them sparkle and look like rainbows - I would love to come and decorate your bins HA. Do you name each pile as my cousin does - after a close relative of course. Double HA
